New Zealand Diaries: Week 2 – A week in Rotorua

Te Puia Geysers

(Te Puia geyser at night)

It wouldn’t be a complete Rotorua experience without doing a couple of hot tubs while you stay. I managed to do 2 of them in my time here, with the first one being the secret hot tubs. At a very affordable $39, the time limit is 45 minutes. However, you are granted access to your tub if you’re by yourself or with your partner and family. The choice of beverage ranges from alcoholic to soft drinks, and everything in between, which is brought to your tub and has the Whakarewarewa forest as your backdrop it is worth the visit. If you are into pies, they have a pie that will leave you speechless with how delicious it is, truly one of the best pies I have ever had.

A hot tub

The next hot springs I went to are a little more expensive, although depending on what you choose, it is worth it as there are many pools to choose from, such as the Polynesian Spa. I did the deluxe double dipper set, priced at $89, which grants you access to many exclusive pools, as well as the normal pools. With the exclusive pools, there are four main geothermal pools ranging from mild to really hot, with a cold plunge and the backdrop of the lake, while with the normal pools, you have a different array of pools with the same stunning view. You don’t get as many perks as the secret tubs, but included with this package is a coupon for a free juice of your choice. I enjoyed the Polynesian spa more than the hot tubs, but both were fantastic and a relaxing way to enjoy your trip in Rotorua. If you ever visit, let me know your favourite event and be sure to subscribe if you like my content.
