Next on the agenda was a culturally filled day, learning about the Māori people and the Te Whakarewarewa family. This was all a part of the Te Puia was a fantastic way to not only experience cool geysers but immerse yourself into generations’ worth of history.

A workshop

I went ahead and booked the Te Pō, which is a combination tour that includes geyser watching, mud pools, Māori carvings, and clothing explanations mixed with a Māori-inspired dinner and an evening event that was filled with Māori dances, songs and a war-dance, which brought this tour to another level. You will end the night with a night gaze at those same geysers while enjoying hot chocolate and soaking in the atmosphere. If you’re looking to indulge in New Zealand culture while on your holiday or journey, then this is a must-do to add to your list. It also helps the family, as it contributes towards purchasing these tours that allow them to keep producing and operating these special nights, which makes the experience unique to this beautiful country.
