(Summer bike rides at Waiheke)
A perfect way to explore some sections of the island is through the Man o’ War E-bike tour, an activity we had the privilege to do in my first month on the island. Thanks to all who have read my first blog post, describing what life is like on Waiheke island, I appreciate the feedback. For this post, I thought about creating a section dedicated to different activities or tours I go on and give a little insight of what to expect and what journey it takes you on as there is many more on the way I know for sure.

During a summer’s day in early March, we were approached asking if we would like to do the E-bike tour the company had to offer. A recently developed track and a new activity for the business, the tour takes about 1 hour 45 mins, which goes through so many layers of nature and the end views are what you see above. Riding through paddocks, snaking up hills and cruising through open fields, this ride has to be one of the most peaceful and rewarding rides (for the views alone) that I have been apart of. There are some steep sections along the way however, much to the surprise of many (First time e biker) the power of the extra force within the bike makes you glide alone and help in those tough times although, please treat it like a normal bike you may hurt yourself otherwise.

Once you reach the end point of the tour, you are met with stunning views all-around you, the sea juxtaposed with the farmlands adding to the peaceful nature of the ride makes for one of the most unique experiences I’ve had, and you will to. This is a tour worth experiencing yourself as pictures can’t justify it enough. To end this post I would love to share a Asian proverb that can summarise what it means to be a part of travel culture and how awe inspiring it can be to witness if and when you decide to take your first step towards travelling around the globe;
“It’s better to see something once than to hear about it a thousand times”.
